Services: Curatorship and Research

Correspondencias (Correspondences) is an on-going research project developed within Botánica de Proyectos’ Lab. The aim is to study a series of confronted discourses and shared problems in different latitudes within the artistic field.

Correspondences is organized in several volumes focused on multidisciplinary cases of study in collaboration with curators, artists and institutions in the cultural and scientific realm.

Transatlantic Project is the first volume of Correspondence and is a collaboration between Mariela Velasco, director of Botánica de Proyectos, and curator Paola Marugán. Echoing a self-referential interest and questioning adaptation processes, the research explores the concepts “subjectivity” and “limits” through the work of several artists, mainly women, who focus their work in themes such as: body, identity, memory and self-representation.

A first stage of the curatorial process was presented to a group of artists, researchers, art students, curators, and creative professionals at the beginning of 2019 in Casa Dos Corazones, Cholula, Mexico.
